Meet Aldo and Friends

Aldo Zelnick is a curmudgeonly yet endearing 10-year-old who happens to be good at cartooning. He fills up blank sketchbooks his grandma Goosy gives him with hilarious drawings and whacky stories from his everyday life. Aldo and his family live in Colorado, where the sun is shining most of the time and the Rocky Mountains are just a few minutes away, beckoning folks to spend time outside, but Aldo would rather play video games.

If you're looking for a smarter, less snarky, elementary-age appropriate (and, many say, funnier!) alternative or addition to Wimpy Kid, Aldo's your man. This hilarious alphabetical series of illustrated chapter books starts with the award-winning Artsy-Fartsy and continues in Bogus, Cahoots, Dumbstruck, Egghead, Finicky, Glitch, Hotdogger, Ignoramus and Jackpot. Be on the lookout for Kerfuffle, coming in May 2015.

"I’ve been waiting for a series to come along that could knock Wimpy Kid off its pedestal as the most popular series in my library. Well, this may be it: the Aldo Zelnick Comic Novels. This is an action-packed alphabet series with laugh-out-loud, smart, fast-moving stories. The slapstick comic illustrations provide spot-on kid humor. ” — Donna Dannenmiller, Teacher-Librarian, Lincoln Elementary, Olympia, Washington

Scattered pine needles

Aldo Zelnick

A secretly arsty-farty 10-year-old who dislikes sports and being outside but loves bacon, Slushies, and video games. Good at drawing, but not sure that's a cool thing to like. Collects and shares audacious words in his sketchbooks. Fun Fact: Aldo's middle name is Valentine. Guess why!? (You'll just have to read Ignoramus to find out!)

Jack Lopez

Aldo’s best friend and all-around affable guy. 10 years old. An avid rock hound (A.K.A. rock enthusiast/collector) and professional treefort hanger-outer. Jack is bilingual and speaks English and Spanish. A finicky eater, unlike his best friend. Has a dog named Slate.

Bee Goode

Bee's real name is Abby--Bee is just a nickname. She is 11 years old. Bee likes to draw, climb trees, and play baseball. She also loves to grow vegetables in her own garden, and she especially loves to eat them later (yuck!). Bee and her sister Vivi are home-schooled. She may be a girl, but she's one of the coolest in town.
